Owner and creator of recycled clothing company “EllemairCo”. I have a burning passion in my heart to create. My mother raised me on arts and crafts and banana splits, (at least that’s what I remember). I attended Mayfield Secondary School of the Arts in the Visual Arts Program, and now graduated from Sheridan College Oakville Campus in the Art Fundamentals Program.
I took fashion throughout high school, and these initial classes inspired me to create my own clothing. Just over two years ago I started “Ellemairco” a company to sell my artwork pieces, which eventually evolved into refurbished furniture, wall hangings and decor. I was travelling to farmers markets and small venues, dragging all of my oversized work to small venues where I was receiving wonderful feedback but very unsuccessful in making a profit from it.
After 6 months of struggling and feeling very discouraged in developing my passion into a career, I moved out west for a winter season to work and snowboard where I realized I could sell my artwork in a different way..…..clothing. I started making clothes I had earlier designed during school, kimonos, shawls etc. I was finally content, I had created my art in a way that people were so passionate and excited about, and cultivated a potential career.
Ellemairco is a clothing company that is made with passion and soul. Down to earth, bohemian statement pieces, Incorporating recycled, and vintage fabric into the products. Brilliant colours, and intricate patterns make my soul happy, clothing is much more than just dressing yourself. It is a outlet for creativity and feeling good about yourself and how you look. I base my designs on timeless bohemian styles that are easy to dress up or down.
